OUR STORY
A History-Obsessed Engineer's Guide to Latino Music
In 2022, Del Bohio Arts (Bo-ee-oh) was created to widen the accessibility of Bachata and Salsa music; even to melomanos, or music lovers. Armed with a lifetime love of the music and a continuous education about the culture and dance, Del Bohio aims to be a hub for Latinos and non-Latinos to enjoy dances under one roof; after all, Bohio refers to the "hut homes" of the Indigenous Taino from the Antilles. We aim to center our experiences through the exploration of the history and personal expressions (answering the WHY we do certain moves) when prompted by music.
You will find Thomas Sosa at the many intersections between Art, History, and Technology. Born in the Bronx, NY to parents from the Cibao region (Between Moca and Licey al Medio) of the Dominican Republic. His love for the music, while lifelong, did not translate to a dedication to dance until 2011; where participation in a dance showcase sparked the interest in social dance. After gaining social dancing, performance, and instructional experience during University while studying Engineering, Thomas has been on a mission to explain the may ways that moves are performed.
Certifications include Amargue Flow Teacher Training (and ongoing Mentorship).
